Dating Myself

So as time has passed since my last relationship, I have thought about what I've wanted in a guy. Improvements to my ideal future husbands to prevent any damage to my future. Let me give you an example of things I looked for on a date.

Did he open all the doors, including car doors?
Was he friendly with all he encountered?
Did he speak of others in an uplifting manner, like a friend should?
Is he honoring or trying to honor his priesthood covenants?
Does he respect me, my wishes, and those around him?

Now these are ones I will keep forever! But here were ones I had, that I realized perhaps hurt me in the dating world...

Big Spoon...
If we were to cuddle or "spoon", would I be the big or little spoon? No girl wants to be the big spoon! That's just awkward! So height and weight were a requirement. Just had to be bigger than my hispanic curves!

Born, Bred, and Potato Fed!
So I refused to date anyone from Idaho! Reason being was that I never, (and I still really don't), want to land up living in Idaho. By all means, it is a great state! But I hate not having a big city near by, and the cold is just awful! Bearable... but not desired.

Syncing Ipods
haha. So this means I was such a brat, that I looked to see if we liked the same music. I just couldn't deal with someone who didn't like country or didn't like my taste in music. I couldn't imagine fighting over what to listen to in the car everyday! Been there. Done that. Didn't want it again!

Wanna Be a Baller!
I am a huge sports fanatic and dating a guy that was big into sports was a must! And to top it off it had to be sports I liked. Playing basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball were my emphasis. But wrestling, tennis, running, just didn't give me the "you're a babe" response I wanted.

What I've Learned....
My personal goals/ideals in a guy were perhaps preventing me from seeing potential suitors that were right there in front of me.

Let's take my life just recently!...
I have known a great guy for about a year now. Has an awesome sense of humor, saw each other often, is always so kind and inclusive, caring, compassionate to all, the list goes on! But he wasn't up to some of my "requirements" that I looked for in a guy. So I never saw him like that.... Until recently. I decided I needed to ease up. (My mother told me I needed to or I'd end up alone haha) So! With that I decided to evaluate how I evaluate guys. And realized I was being quite dramatic and ridiculous!

NOW!

Well, I have quite the predicament on my hands... There is a guy who used to have interest in me, that I put in the "friend zone", that I am now having feelings for. And all I can think is I hope is that it's not too late! And because we have been such great friends I don't know how to approach the "oh hey! I'm ready to give this a shot" conversation! I'm so silly!

I started praying in September of 2011 for Heavenly Father to guide me on what to do. I thought a mission! And figured out that was not in my book. So I prayed, read my scriptures, read conference talks, did all I could. Returned to an ex thinking that maybe I needed to give that a billionth try! haha Realizing that was silly again, I kept praying. Praying EVERY night, (no joke, my friends can testify), that Heavenly Father would protect my future husband, he would honor his covenants, and that I would meet him soon... But NOW I'm realizing maybe he answered my prayers in January 2012 when I met my friend but I was expecting some GRAND entrance of this guy in my life. Not this smooth friendship I developed... Then again maybe that's not it at all... I just don't know.
For the first time in a long while... I can say I am confused! :/
I have had life planned for the past 6 months, and now I am just a little uncertain...
All I know is that the poor boys who have dated me, were crazy to put up with my crazy nonsense haha! What troopers! :)

Until next time...

New Year... Same Me!

I have all these ideas running through my head the past month and have not had the patience to sit down and write. I'm lucky if I can get the time to write them in my journal! And I love writing in my journal! But this entry does not have anything but random thoughts and statements to the blogging world that I would love to share!
So let me share my "truths"!

Hispanic Christmas!
It was a Feliz Navidad en Nuevo Mexico. And one thing I wanted to share even with my white friends was a cool tradition we have.
Like for example we substitute gravy for mashed potatoes with red chili! Sooo good!
We also have this tradition called farolitas/luminaria where little paper bags are set up with candles and sand in the bag that light up. They are so cool, and I never realized how unique it was until I lived in Idaho. haha!
Farolitos on the street

Ugly Sweaters... Vans... Nikon D3100 Camera... JB perfume

FastGrad Ain't Fast Enough!----->>>
So this is my first semester on the fast grad program in hope of graduating on time, do to a missed semester and well too many fun ones! haha With that I am going to school year round and have started to plan out my life! Which is by far the most exciting thing I am looking forward to! It goes as follows...

1. Graduate 2014 from BYU-I in Elementary Education

2. Attend a Boston Red Sox game with my brothers!

3. Move to Mesa, Arizona to student teach!!!!!!

4. Once established I want to travel! Travel! Travel! Travel!

5. After that is done, let's say a whooping 24 years of age, I will get right back to school and hope to obtain my Master at ASU.
6. And if I accomplish that and still have the drive I want to go BACK to school and get my BA in business!!!! This being if I am not a mom. (I think it would be a cool thing to do as a single woman!) :)

Deep dark hidden DESIRE....
I really, really want to work for Disney! Not like, "How many are in your party?" or "You sit here, here, and here" I want to help run the business aspects. I have always loved customer service and making people smile, plus bring new ideas to the table and managing things, and working with kids and families! So what better place to do this than at Disneyland!!! MY FAVORITE PLACE on EARTH!!!! This would be my 'if I were single, and could conquer the world job!' Kind of excited! All this before I'm 30! Bucketlist... CHECK!

For now this is all I have to say.
To let you invade my world!
But there will be more, 'cause there always is!, so hang around. February is just around the corner!

The Bestie

So I decided to change my blog post this time to "Truths about me and my Bestest Friend in the whole wide world... Catherine Ann Stabio... (formerly known has Hecht) ;) haha

1. If you're telling it to me or if you're telling it to her... We are both going to know about it! haha

Me and lil 'ol miss Cat... Well we know one too many things about each other. And too many things about other people! haha Me and the good 'ol bestie have daily chit chats and if we go past a day, someone usually gets an "I miss you" text.... (Although Catherine sucks at responding to messages... FACT!) We are so close and in each other's business that I get to know the TMI's about her and anyone she come in contact with, and vice versa. This "problem" (even though I do not see the problem with it... haha) can be quite obnoxious if you aren't us. So this is fair warning to all involved... If you don't want her or I to know, don't tell us. :)

2. Our evolution...

  Fall 2010....
                      Spring 2011...
                                 Fall 2011...
             Winter 2012...

..::Now::..

3. ~Memories~
Fall 2010... Our first semester. Me and Cat (to disclose, I was the one who gave her this now famous nickname! Or else she'd still be Cathy... ;) ) were quite different. Both young and dumb! But I was so drawn to Cat's fun personality and my lack thereof that I knew I wanted to be best friends. (Weird but true!) But Cat gave me the BEST birthday party I could have asked for, being so far away from home and homesick constantly. This girl gave me a princess themed birthday party, castle pinata and all! Along with my favorite word game... BANANA GRAMS!

Spring 2011... This was my most trivial semester by far. I gained my testimony here and I had my best friend there to help me along the way. I would call Cat in the middle of the day or night and have questions and answers that I needed help with that no one else could understand but her. My Best Friend walked me through my most life changing experience, and helped me pray in search for answers I needed that would affect the rest of my life. Here is where I became eternally grateful for my best friend.

Fall 2011... This is where we accomplished nothing of meaning except our friendship! :)
We became the adventurous/fun bunch. We had random weekend trips to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Cat would wait for me to get off work everyday so we could go have lunch together. Cat would come wake up after her date nights and tell me all about them, (because I had no dating life to share). She almost killed me/turned me into a science experiment by dying my eggs DARK BLUE for my birthday haha. She also lent me a shoulder to cry on after the most difficult break up in my life. (My only break up, nonetheless DIFFICULT!) And to top it all off we both failed classes together, dropping our GPA's to academic failings, but made the most EPIC music videos Idaho has ever seen! WHAAAAT UUUP!!!!

Winter 2012... haha... well... this semester tried mine and Cat's friendship. When you're in a room with someone 24/7 for 3 months, I don't care how much of best friends you are... you may want to smoother the other with a pillow at times! haha But I am glad those things occurred. All I know is that after that semester, and still being best friends, just shows how much we love each other!

Spring 2012... although we did not room together this semester me and Cat remained really close. And during this time we added another person into our tight neat duo. Her soon to be hubby, Rodrigo Stabio. Our duo turned into a trio and I am pretty sure we sometimes drove our newest addition insane at times. But ya gotta know, when you start to fall in love/marry a girl, the best friends are included! ;)

Fall 2012... Present Day... I was scared that once Cat got married it would forever change our friendship. We would go separate ways and the love and friendship would be a great memory. But I have been blessed to find out that it has only become more awesome and fun! :)
We don't necessarily have "girls night" every weekend, or do our random music video shoots, or have dinner together every Sunday (even if it was just us two together), but we see each other daily... except for today cause we are both sick in bed! I have been blessed to be a little extended addition to her new family, receiving Priesthood Blessings from her husband, and being included in all the fun, even if it is with a bunch of married couples! haha I am grateful to know Heavenly Father has blessed my dearest friends life in abundance and that I have been by her side to witness it all.

4. We are freakin' HILARIOUS!!!
I don't care who you are. But when in the presence of me and my bestie you will come to find out life is quite grand and fun. The stuff that is said and gestures that are made, one might think we might be insane and rather odd. (I can say this because my family has even told me this!) Our inside jokes and sense of humor in general is quite funny! So please sign up and we would love to give you a show.. Its's kind of how we roll ;)

5. My Rock...
I am grateful for my dear friend who at times told me "Stop" or "Shut Up" so I would come back to reality. And some of the most tender and merciful moments were when she didn't have to say anything at all but listen. Me and Cat both know the Lord had us cross paths on purpose. It is no coincidence we got roomed together our first semester. In some way we have taught each other important life lessons. Cat has been my rock at times when I felt like the world was caving in, from break ups to family trials, she has put up with it and has never once complained or told me to get over myself... (FALSE! She did say that once but I was being quite dramatic haha) Nonetheless she has been one of the most solid support systems, for all the drama in my life.

6. Grateful!
I don't know if Cat will get to this point in the blog, cause it is rather long than intended, (but I'd hope so considering it is about her as well!!!!), but I want her to know how GRATEFUL I am for and the example she has set in my life. She led a path for me at times when I didn't know where to go. She showed me that I could actually be cool, and lighten up! I hope I have been a great friend in return for the blessings she has brought forth in my life. And I cannot waaait! for the next step in both of our lives and how we can gossip and annoy our husbands together! haha :)

Love You Cataract!

Prince Charming How To's...

This post is dedicated to the Knights-in-Training and to those wondering how to catch a young ladies attention.... My personal "truths" and experiences on How To be a girl's Prince Charming...

Thee Basics...

1. Once Upon a Time... WAIT! Did Prince Charming exist in 2012???
First! Let us address the Prince Charming title. Realistically there is no Prince Charming. Fellas, we know. And we know we are not no grand princesses. But we, as women, do hope for some enchanting, sweeping off our feet moments of love. (YES, momentS with an "S". Because this should occur more often than the first date, engagement, or wedding day). And I am a firm believer in not settling for less than what you deserve, even if it means standing alone. So with that being said, every man should treat his wife, girl he is courting, and women in general, with a royal attitude.

2. Sliding doors don't charm a girl... a man opening each door does
Something that I ALWAYS come back after a first date noting to my roommates/friends is how often, (or if it even happened), the guy opened the door for me. These doors include entering and exiting a place (restaurant, house, car, the gym, class, etc.) Whether she is passenger, in the back seat, or driving... OPEN THE DOOR. Makes her feel like a woman. If she gives you permission to stop, you may, until then keep it coming. And keep it going after the first date, after marriage, and until she dies.
Personally opening a door, is like the beginning of opening up my heart.
**BONUS POINTS!** Open for other women when she is around. Melt her heart with that!

3. Wrap her up in laughter! :)
One of thee most attractable qualities for a guy (in my book) is humor! Best way to see if I'm comfortable with you, is to see if I can laugh with you. True, deep laughter. The kind that keeps you chuckling and smiling even after the joke was told 5 minutes ago. The kind that makes her give you the "you're the coolest kid on the block" look. Is she breathy laugh and a simple smile then you aren't taking down her walls. This may take some time. But all effort is noticed.

4. H always comes before K... Hugs. Hands. Holding. Kisses.
The order to show her you care and respect her. Although she wants the K first, she will appreciate the H's before the big K!
Hugs... Not side hugs. Not pat on the back, job well done hugs. Hug her like you like her. Make her feel little in your arms like its a shelter. Long enough to show 'yeah, I like you', but not too long to show 'yeah, I'm being creepy'.
Hands... as scary as it is reach for her hand. It's like reaching for her moon. Landing the hand holding shows you are in it with her. It's more meaning than a hug, so be careful when using it. But its the next step in saying 'Let's see where this goes'.
Holding... Like cuddling, but not cliche and cheesy. A girl can tell the difference between having a cuddle sesh and being held. Her dad held her, (meaning he made her feel safe and care free). Make a big move and show you care and HOLD her.
Kisses... the first kisses with any guy should be magical. Lead up to it with a laugh, a compliment, eye gazing, or something that can make her have a mental picture of that moment forever... you never know if that will be hers and yours last, first kiss. ;) Kisses speak louder than words at times. So make sure you are ready for the non-verbal expression before using it. To her your kiss should be worth a thousand words!

Final words of advice... each girl is different and should be treated as such... each moment to her is a magical one if you play it right. By showing you're a man she will have confidence in you. By showing her you care you will gain a new best friend in her. Do both and own a Princess!

oh so random!

I feel as though I am obligated to write a blog since upon my arrival in the Burg. And to update my real life fan club.... Well let's update this truth board about me!

Truths...
1. being a female, turning 21, unmarried and not on a mission, in a Mormon society is apparently a sin?
I was asked a few weeks back by a male, "it must suck to be single girl here and not going on a mission... what's wrong with you?" Let's address the issue. The issue here is your mentality of thinking. Last I checked it was not required as a female to go on a mission? Secondly, being single is a choice. It is in all honesty because guys like this, that ask ridiculous and immature things like so, that I do not settle (Yes, settle) for the BYU-I mentality.
2. I don't dance...
Over the course of the past few weeks I have realized my hips DO LIE! MY hispanic hips are much deceiving. No I cannot shake it like Shakira or JLO. Perhaps more along the lines as if Emma Stone were trying to "get down". Awkward. Unattractive. And in the name of all that is good PLEASE STOP! haha

3. officially too cool for school!
Let's recap week one... Attended every class. Recap week 2..... missed 2 classes. Did NO homework.
(I hope technology will expand so greatly that my future
children will not be able to go back and read this).
Week 3. Present. Missed one class. and some accomplishment of homework.
I officially hate school and if i could drop it I would. But would love to have a degree for dropping it. Possible? haha
I am highly unmotivated to do tedious and mindless work. Pretty sure Aristotle and various other educational philosophers would be disappointed in how the system has turned out. Unchallenging, so much that a monkey could do it. I just simply choose not to. :)

4. I am ooooobsessed with black people Youtube videos.

Please watch and let your IQ drop a few points and enjoy my sense of humor. :)

5. I love chessyness and surprises!!!!!!!!!!
I had thee most great past weeks filled with cheesyness and surprises!!! Makes my heart melt. :) And that is all I will say until I can't control my excitement anymore!

Although random this is all true and given permission to be talked about, considering my blog has already been talked about ;) haha
Until next time....
Be kind to one another!

why T-Swift speaks MY truths...

So I have been inspired today! Thank you once again T-Swift for relaying messages I could not. And because of that I want to title my "truths" after the song titles that have revealed truths to me over the years.

Truths...

1. "We are NEVER ever ever ever getting back together... like ever!"
Not only do I declare independence from a 'fairytale' I once held on to, I am also declaring independence from teenage love and stupidity of being immature and naive. So to the boys who are struggling to be men because they're still playing games all I have to say is, 0111001101110101011000110110101101110011001000000111010001101111001000000111001101110101011000110110101100100000011000100111001001101111
And why do we as women not see our worth? We are created as glorious beings, given the divine power to be mothers, and yet we think so little of ourselves and think ourselves incomplete unless with somebody? You is kind. You is smart. You is important. And you are WORTH it!

2. "you should've said yes NO!"
Looking back I can see the Lord's hand extended tremendously into my life! I'm pretty sure He was probably even yelling out my name at me... and I still wasn't paying attention. Because now looking back I'm like 'oh! I could have escaped hell'. So to the ladies out there, when he cheats, Ask if he is worth it? Then ask did he think you were worth it?... Don't forget to ask the second question. Save yourself from heartache. Be brave!

3. "I go back to SEPTEMBER..." <---- hahaha
This truth just tells me to follow promptings.... When I go back to "September" I realize that I could have listened to the Holy Ghost sooner, been a little more diligent and a little bit stronger. Don't question the Lord, but know He has a plan, and it is far greater than one we can see.

Lastly, even though you may think this...

know that that is NOT the case ;)   Remember....

And continue...

And thank you again T-Swift for helping me realize some of life's great lessons! <3

the odd stack of truths...

Today's truths, are odd because none of them have anything to deal with each other. And it should explain how random my day and life tends to be from time to time...

1. "Best work under PRESSURE"
-This is no longer to be held true in my reign of Queen at Procrastination. Today I just felt a little older. I was kind enough to have my amazing friends over till 2 in the morning helping me out with math. (Shout out to the Stabio's!). I had the crazy young, wild thought occur to me "I shall pull an all nighter on my last night of the semester!" I was thrilled because I had not done that in a very long while. But there I found myself at 2:30 am, thinking "Nope. Sleep over rides this test I should be studying for." And there I was, asleep...
Not accomplishing ANYTHING I had set out to do.
And realizing, I am not getting any younger...

2. Forgetting to add SAUCE
-When ordering at Buffalo Wild Wings NEVER EVER order a sauce for your wings that is on the RIGHT side of the bottle on the menu. You will come to realize (if you didn't read the fine print that is), that the "sauce" is powder. First off.... WHO EATS WINGS WITH POWDER?!?! Ya should be shot. Secondly, I should really remember, or read the menu properly because this is the second time it has happened to me and the thought even occurred on the drive to "Hey brit! Don't order that powder crap again" And Wa-La! I did...

3. Never to late to pArTy!
-Today marks the first day of summer vacation for me! AKA It will be like this for the next 2 summers to come. Although I am happy for the summer, I feel as though the track system ruins it a little, due to its late arrival. I will stick to my saying "the track system ruins lives." But without further adieu, my summer is here! The means, 1 Bridal Shower, 2 Weddings, 1 trip to Disneyland, at least 2 CAMPING trips, multiple late night talks and games, at least 1 music video, and finally a 7 weeks period without homework! The shackles are off and the world can continue to turn again. Free at last, Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free AT LAST!

Until the next set of truths... Be kind and Love one another
